They were very good and replaced the motor and a main gear wheel under warranty, subject to me sending them the defective parts and proof of purchase on my 450X. I replaced the elevator servo at my own cost, but when the motor went I contacted Horizon Hobbies UK. It was dead when I did the pre-flight checks, but had been fine up until then, with no hint that it was about to fail. Then I had a tail rotor servo failure around flight 175. The main gear got slightly chewed by the pinion gear. When I removed it the lower bearing had disintegrated and, when I opened the motor up two of the magnets had come loose and one of them had a diagonal split. I have also had a motor failure in the hover - it just lost power and when it landed the can was too hot to touch and could be wobbled. The servo wasn't completely dead but didn't respond to transmitter commands. On Sunday I completed ny 200th flight with the 450X and in that time I had the front servo fail at around flight 100 (the helicopter started to respond strangely, climbing hard and then heading for the ground tail first before leveling at around 5 feet before plonking on to the ground, fortunately with no damage ). I'm now reasonably happy hovering and doing hovering circuits, figure 8s, etc. The 450X is my first "big" helicopter (my only other one is a V2 MCPX) and I bought it in October of this year. ![]() It seems every step in size you take the cost of the packs doubles. The 450 size is so convenient as packs are only $20 and I like to take 6 to 8 with me when I fly as I'm not big on field charging. Thinking of a 500 size right now but I'm really liking the look and quality of the JR Forza 450 size so I might just go with that. I'll definitely hang on the 450X as a backup/beater helicopter. ![]() I need one more set of servo gears and then I can go thru the BeastX setup and get it back in the air.Īfter spending a few nights leisurely working on the rebuild I think I'd like to build something from a kit now. It impacted on the tail so I replaced the tail shaft and hub also. I had put about 300 flights on it since May so I took the opportunity to inspect every bearing and ended up replacing two of the main shaft bearings but the rest were ok. The crash was pretty extensive and broke the frames so I went through it from front to back. I'm just finishing up a complete rebuild of my 450x after my last crash which was a result of attempting some very sloppy half piro flips.
